Ms. Umaporn Sukmoung, Deputy Director General of Department of Science Service (DSS) along with team of scientists participated in the 3nd International Conference Food Contact Compliance 2016 during 21st – 23rd September 2016 at Baveno, Italy.

       The Conference aimed to update the food contact material regulations in European Union and in other countries such as USA, Canada, South America, China and Japan.

      The ASEAN Food Reference Laboratory for Food Contact Materials (AFRL for FCM), Department of Science Service (DSS), cooperating with Office of Permanent Secretary (OPS), Ministry of Science and Technology held the workshop on FCM Training 2016: Migration of Melamine from Melamine Wares  during 21st – 24th June 2016 at DSS.

      The objective of workshop aims to improve the capability of laboratory personnel of ASEAN member countries on testing of melamine migrating from melamine wares. There were 13 delegates from 7 countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam to participate in this workshop.

       Ms. Umaporn Sukmoung, Deputy Director General of Department of Science Service (DSS) along with team of scientists met Dr. Eddo Hoekstra, Head of European Union Reference Laboratory for Food Contact Materials (EURL for FCM) in the 2nd Biennial Bilateral Exchange between EURL for FCM and AFRL for FCM (ASEAN Food Reference Laboratory for Food Contact Materials) on 20th September 2016 at Joint Research Centre, Ispra, Italy.

       The meeting aimed to update the EU regulations and exchange the activities of EURL and AFRL on the area of food contact materials, including seeking technical cooperation between both reference laboratories and visiting the laboratory of EURL for FCM.

        On 9th June 2016, the delegates of Nestle Company, Mr. Lionel Buratti, Regional Manager – Asia Oceania and sub - saharan Africa as head of delegates together with Dr. Daniel Hammer and Ms. Carena Seah from Nestle Quality Assurance Center-Singapore, Mrs Tasanee Lekakhulporn and Mr. Pratakorn Aeamaram from Nestle Quality Assurance Center-Thailand, paid an introductory visit to ASEAN Food Reference Laboratory for Food Contact Materials (AFRL for FCM). Mrs. Umaporn Sukmeung, Deputy Director General, and the executives of Department of Science Service gave a welcome speech to all delegates from Nestle Company. The visit served to the ongoing cooperation on exchange the information of method and related issues on the testing of food contact materials.
