Department of Science Service, as ASEAN Food Reference Laboratory for Food Contact Materials (AFRL for FCM), submitted the delegates to attended the 12th ASEAN Food Reference Laboratory Committee Meeting (AFTLC) Meeting held in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, during 8 – 9 November 2017.

       There were eight countries namely, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam, participating in the meeting. In this meeting, Ms. Nongnuch Mayteeyonpiriya, Director of Division of Food Products and Food Contact Materials, Department of Science Service, was honorably appointed the leader of Thai delegates. The meeting aims to consider the documents and the procedures relating to AFRL, the establishment of new AFRLs, and the activities of non – AFRLs member states, in order to strengthen the testing capability for food safety in ASEAN region.

      Department of Science Service, Ministry of Science Service, as ASEAN Food Reference Laboratory for Food Contact Materials (AFRL for FCM), submitted the delegates from Food Products and Food Contact Materials Division and Chemicals and Consumer Products Division to attended the 12th ASEAN Food Reference Laboratory Committee Meeting (AFTLC) held in Langkawi, Malaysia, during 27 – 28 April 2018. There were nine countries namely, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam, participating in the meeting. Miss Nongnuch Mayteeyonpiriya, Director of Division of Food Products and Food Contact Materials, Department of Science Service, was honorably appointed the leader of Thai delegates.The meeting aims to consider the documents and the procedures relating to AFRL, the establishment of new AFRLs, and to report the activities of AFRLs, in order to strengthen the testing capability for food safety in ASEAN region.

       Dr. Suthiweth T. Saengchantara, Director General of Department of Science Service (DSS) along with team of scientists participated in the cooperative meetings on food innovation and food contact materials during 29 August – 1 September 2017 with four Japanese scientific organizations, as follows;

  1. National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ), Tsukuba
  2. Toyo Seikan Group, Yokohama
  3. Food Research Institute (NFRI), Tsukuba
  4. Japan Food Research Laboratories (JFRL), Tama

       According to the meeting, DSS proposed to extend the scope of collaboration to NMIJ and to collaborate with Japanese organizations in various areas, for instance, research and development in measurement standards, measuring equipment and analytical techniques in the field of physical and chemical metrology, research and development in functional foods, information exchange on testing methods and regulations. The invitation of Japanese experts to be guest speakers in order to provide the knowledge on food innovation and food contact materials for Thai industries, etc., was also included. The details of collaborations will be discussed further.

      Mrs. Umaporn Sukmoung, Deputy Director General of Department of Science Service (DSS) along with team of scientists and Dr. Manop Sittidech, Minister Counsellor, Office of Science and Technology, Royal Thai Embassy, participated in the cooperative meetings on Food Contact Materials (FCM) during 20 – 22 September 2017 with five Belgian scientific organizations, as follows;

  1. Department of Food Safety and Food Quality, Ghent University, Ghent
  2. Primoris cvba, Ghent
  3. SENSTECH, Ghent
  4. Belgian Packaging Institute (BPI), Zellik
  5. Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM), Geel

       According to the meetings, DSS proposed the cooperative topics with Belgian organizations such as inviting Belgian experts to be guest speakers or lecturers, training programs for DSS staffs at the Belgian laboratories, developing the capacity building of DSS’ laboratory for sensory test of FCM, developing of reference materials for FCM, etc. The details of cooperation will be discussed further.

FCM Training 2018 : Analysis of Plasticizers in Food Contact Materials and Food Products

       กรมวิทยาศาสตร์บริการร่วมกับสำนักงานปลัดกระทรวงวิทยาศาสาตร์และเทคโนโลยีและสำนักงานที่ปรึกษาด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี ประจำสถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงบรัสเซลส์ ประเทศเบลเยียม จัดการฝึกอบรมเรื่อง “FCM Training 2018: Analysis of Plasticizers in Food Contact Materials and Food Products”ระหว่างวันที่ 19 - 23 มีนาคม 2561 ณ กรมวิทยาศาสาตร์บริการ กระทรวงวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาความสามารถบุคลากรห้องปฏิบัติการของประเทศสมาชิกอาเซียนด้านการทดสอบปริมาณสารพลาสติไซเซอร์ในวัดุสัมผัสอาหารและผลิตภัณฑ์อาหาร.
